Saw this little chappy on the ground whilst out fishing this month.
Winter Chubbing
Had a session at Park Farm, started at the top of the section and worked my way down. Landed a good sized Chub at the end, fishing op the metal foot bridge. I was actually sitting on some dead reeds! I was using my 1Lb TC rod and “Big Chub” paste o
n a big size 6 Carp hook.

Piking around
During the October and November we had three sessions of piking over yatley. Firstly we went to river valley where they are continuing with the works to split the gravel pit, dad had 1, I blanked.
We then had a couple of sessions at mill lane, on the first session dad had 1 Pike I had two. Mine was small jacks but good entertainment we also used the small gas cooker for the first time mostly having a sausage and beans. On the next session we fished the corner swim where I had two pike and dad had none. The weather was very mild for the time of year.

River Season Review June&July
Looking back to mid June and the start of the river season, saw a visit to Abbey. I got one Chub, 5 1/2 lb being another new PB. I got it on my usual bolt rig and Rajh Spice Boilie.
A week and a half down in Dorset in early July saw me totally blank on the river. Reports of poaching and a general low turn out of anglers on the bank did’nt inspire confidance. We had a couple of days at Widgehill Ponds, the final day seeming land 3 small mirrors and lost a 4.th. Not what we went away for but at least we caught.
A day on the Wey followed on my last leave day, I landed a 5lb 3oz Chub which I caught off the surface. This is the first fish I’ve taken off the surface and the first time I have stalked and caught a fish by selection! It was swimming in the middle of the stream, I threw in 5 chunks of bread, it scoffed the first and then disappeared. 10mins later it returned, so i unclipped the weight, cast in and it turned and took my bait.

Winter Chubbing
Had a Chub just under 4lb today, had tried to get out twice before but lakes still frozen or eather poor. Had it on my own homemade cheese paste and a standard ledger setup. Size 6 hook and 6lb line straight to the hook.

Bit of Portable operating during my Sept 2010 fishing holiday
Just a quick note, I used my FT-817 and my Superantennas MP-1 antenna on 40M and 20M during my holiday in Ringwood, Dorset last week. I worked a few Scottish stations on 40M, a good path. I also worked a few East Europeans on 20M, also into Baltics. The old 817 seemed to work just fine, I have just got a new JumpStart which doubles as a compressor, I plan on using this to replace my old portable powerstation.

River report for June 2010
First visit ended with two nice Chub, the first of about 3lb and the second about 4lb. It was taken on Raji Spice boilies, the next visit was to produce the fish pictured. It was a short evening session and again, the Raji Spice done the business having switched from Kryston Luncheon Meat paste.
Another visit in the evening was a blank, I had a session last Friday and again blanked so it seems maybe extra angling pressure and/or failing water levels maybe taken their toll.

I can’t help feel the fish are more interested in spawning, but in early April we seemed to have the better days. The fishery is quite large and never seems to be all that busy, we always find a swim we want.
I’ve mainly be using my locslide float and on the other rod, a large feeder using soft bolies or sweetcorn as hook bait.

Visited the River Wey at the end of the season
Visited the River Wey at the end of the season, quite warm in the sun but a brisk chilly wind, I fished the end of the Abbey Stream and used my Drennan Ledgermaster and cheese paste. Got a few good bites but caught nothing.
Took a few pics of the bullocks in the field!
